Today was R’s swim meet, so the plan was to go out to breakfast. She got to pick the place, and unfortunately it’s one of those places that only serve traditional breakfast food during breakfast hours, so for me, that meant oatmeal was the only thing on the menu.
Truth be told, if I’m going to go out and eat oatmeal, they make the best. They use the Irish oats, and put cinnamon and banana slices in it. Not as good as a breakfast BAS, but wasn’t too bad either.
Lunch was a salad from the Whole Foods salad bar I made yesterday. We were at the meet for 6 hrs., so I packed the salad, blueberries, banana, a Blueprint Cleanse juice, and some crackers. Gluten-free snicker doodle bunny crackers if I’m going to be specific (and clearly I am).
For dinner, its lasanga-ladas! So I’m way too lazy to make real enchiladas that require stuffing and rolling, so I layer them like lasagna instead. I made the Happy Herbivore homemade enchilada sauce from Happy Herbivore Abroad, and then just made up a mixed veggie filling of onion, red pepper, and zucchini, beans, and carrots. Served with a side of brown rice, and dinner was served for my girls and me.
I did a half hour of yoga after getting home from the meet. We were out the door at 830 this morning, and got home right after 530. Between breakfast and traveling the 1+ hr to the meet location, I was way too wiped to do anything else.
My little one had a great meet though!
Yesterday was a really chill day. I had several meetings, but they were all casual (hello, I love you Jeans Fridays), and since my day ended very close to Whole Foods, that was a pit stop on the way home.
I was able to get home while it was still sunny (even though it was chilly), and I have to say I’m so happy the days are getting longer!
My husband and son are at a fun gaming thing in Boston this weekend, so it’s just been me and the girls since Thursday morning. We’ve gone to bed early (R loves sleeping on Daddy’s side when he’s not here, and we both fall asleep reading….it’s cute), and have mostly been pretty calm.
The house is clean (I pay someone to do that, and now my husband and I have almost nothing to bicker about!), my fridge is stocked with whole food goodness, and I’ve gone to bed early every night and plan to tonight too! I’m not saying I don’t miss my boys…I do very much. But despite an all-day swim meet, I’d say the past few days have been very relaxing!
The only non-relaxing thing as been what I’m starting to call Hive Hell.
For about a week now, I’ve been breaking out with hives all over my body. And not always places I can reach well (hello, just below the space between my shoulder blades). I haven’t changed soaps or anything environmental that I can think of other than running out of my normal lotion and having to dig something out of the linen closet. They itch so badly, that I can’t stop from scratching, and then really bad things happen (like bleeding and deep scratch marks). I think it’s because my skin gets very dry in the winter (prescription-lotion dry most years), and dry skin itches, and then I scratch it, and then it’s so irritated that my body is having an auto-immune reaction. At least…that’s what I hope it is. I finally got up at midnight last night and popped a Benadryl so I could sleep through the itchies. It worked, and today has been a better day (knock on wood). I also picked up a new hippie lotion, and haven’t reacted to it at all.
Tomorrow I’m looking forward to a really good day. I’m having lunch with a girlfriend, and sometime late evening, my boys will be home! Other than that, I plan to read, prep a bunch of raw foods to get me through the couple of days until my juices arrive from Pressed Juicery!
