Hot As Hades!

Tuesday it was too hot to eat real food.  I had a green smoothie for breakfast, Skinny Dip frozen vegan yogurt for lunch, and dinner out with AC.

seriously been having the same smoothie every day! Strawberry/banana/caoco/protein powder, and whatever greens I have on hand.

Wed was (of course) Independence day!  It started with a smoothie, and ended with a small salad.  It was another one of those days where it was so hot, I had no appetite.

Today was a smoothie for breakfast, veggie sushi with soba for lunch, and green curry for dinner!  At the rate I’m going, I’ll be having at least one green smoothie a day in July.  There are definitely worse things….

LIFE

Tuesday I spent all freaking day waiting for the AC repair guy.  Let’s just say he was really, really late in getting to my house.  I spent the day sitting on the couch in the green room, 2 feet in front of a fan, and reading.  My cable went out for a few hours too, so I couldn’t even work much!

Good news is that it was not an expensive fix, and he had the part in his truck inventory.  Of course by then house was 92 degrees, and I was happy to have evening plans to go out with AC.

Yesterday we went to Busch Garden’s for fireworks like we do every year.  It was a really, really hot day (sensing a theme here?), and we were all ready to leave right when the fireworks ended.  It was still a really nice day, even though we were hot, sweaty, and exhausted by 11 when we got home.

Today I had a facial after work.  It was very nice and relaxing, and she even gave me some zinc cream to help heal my awful sunburn.  Here’s hoping it works!

I’m nervous about tomorrow.  I have my allergist appointment, and they’re going to do skin testing.  I’ve been through that before, and it was awful.  At any rate, I hope he can figure out why I’m suddenly allergic to so many fresh fruits…

  1. Oh yucko on the skin testing. Hope it goes smoothly. I love bean sprouts too and always forget about them. Too bad on the soup and no sriracha 😉

    • Thanks! I’m sure I’ll be one big hive by noon..
      I forget about the bean sprouts too. This new sushi place we started going to brings it out as an appetizer. I swear, I think that’s why I always want to go back 🙂

  2. Your 4th of July looked wonderful.
    I put spinach in my smoothy the other day after seeing your green smoothies. I once did a three day smoothy challenge and really enjoyed them but could only replace two of my meals with them not all. Good luck with your testing.

    • I don’t think I could do smoothies for all meals a day unless I was sick. What did you think of the greens in yours?

  3. That zinc should help. Don’t forget, Apple Cider Vinegar helps too. Drench a paper towel in the vinegar and lay it on the burn.

    That soup sure does LOOK good. I do hate it when something looks so delicious and then it’s bland.

        I had two times that happened to me. When Molly was in college in Phoenix, I was thirteen, my mother put me on a bus to go spend the summer with her. I was used to Utah, so I had no idea that it would be THAT different. SO, I laid out on a raft in the pool….for a long time. OMG…. it was bad. Then years later, proof that I am not able to learn from my first mistake, I went to Antelope Island with my friends and laid out by the water. Again with the OMG.

        Anyway, Molly is the one who taught me about the vinegar.

        This morning, I forgot to mention that I read that if a soup is bland, again with the Apple Cider Vinegar, a splash or two can perk it right up. Also, I read that lime juice works as well. It acts as if you added salt, without all the harm of the sodium. I got a bottle of key lime juice a few years ago. It was SO wonderful. I cannot find it anymore :(. It made a great finisher for loads of dishes but soups and stews were that much better with a touch of it!!!!
