Format is going out the window! It’s been a hectic week, and breaking my last 2 days into Food, Fitness, and Life just won’t flow well 🙂
All my food has been awesome. Smoothies, veggies, and lots of leftover Thai coconut veggie rice fun. Oh. And lots of baked potatoes.
I’ve been in a training class at work the past 2 days. Root Cause Analysis. I will say, the skills we learned were amazing, and I can’t wait to use it. That said…the class was for anyone in our organization, and of the 20+ people, only 6 were in IT. Great material, but I get antsy after a while. Yesterday was very interactive (doing mock interviews, etc), but today wasn’t so much. I was really snarky by lunch, and it doesn’t help that at my table were 2 other IT people. It felt like high school (in the fun “making fun of everything” kind of way). I don’t do well seeing the same walls for any length of time, much less for two whole days.
So, I have to mention my daughter, A. I’ve blogged a lot about her art and her special school and her drawing/fashion design/photography, etc. Well…today was incredible. Not just because I’m proud of her, but because SHE’S proud of her!
She’s a junior, and is doing several weeks of portfolio reviews with multiple universities (her art high school is one of the few in the country, and the kids are generally so heavily sought after, that all the colleges comes to them. When she was accepted, she was one of only 19 students accepted to Visual Arts). Anyway….many of the schools she’s interested have been in, giving critiques for admission requirements, etc. SCAD was today. SCAD is the Savannah Institute of Art and Design. They have two campuses – Savannah, GA and Hong Kong. It’s like a Harvard of Art Universities. And they LOVED her. Her drawings are very “graphic novel-esque”, and were considered amazing and marketable. Her fashion design was highly praised. They have referred her to an admission specialist at the school, and she may be considered for early admission. We’ve been looking at summer programs for this year (MIAD in Milwaukee, SAIC in Chicago, and MICA in Baltimore were here previous preferences…now it’s SCAD). So…I’m uber proud of her. Here’s hoping they have scholarships! 😉
So really…can’t top that, so I’m signing off. Have a great weekend!
