Birds as Alarm Clocks, Weekly Wrap Up, and MoFo Planning!

Ugh…another week gone by without a blog post.  I thought about it…I even planned around it…but this has been another one of those weeks where I didn’t have much time to eat, let alone blog.

It wasn’t just MY blog I have been neglecting.  All my favorite blogs that I read everyday…nope…haven’t kept up there either.  I’ve spent the last hour reading, and I’m now down to 612 unread blog posts.

I hate feeling so rushed and busy that I don’t have the time to take a break for things that are important to me.  My little escapisms!

Despite the insane week (12 hr workdays, easy), I have had a lovely weekend so far.  That’s what I’ll recap!

My family has talked about camping quite often the past year or so.  But that’s ALL we’ve done.  I have been pretty convinced that my idea of roughing it is a hotel with no bar.  Alas, my husbands newfound passion for hiking and geocaching has him planning for a solo camping/hiking weekend adventure!  That passion is a bit infectious, so I’ve been thinking about camping pretty much all summer.

I bought books on camping, magazines, and special dehydrator books (I think what I’m looking forward to the most is the challenge of campsite cooking!).  I’ve been reading websites on what to do, what to have, and how to have fun (my big fear is I’ll be bored silly).

Well, its fall and I’ve learned that means camp gear is on wicked sale.  So I bit the bullet and bought an 8-person family sized tent.  It came on Wednesday, stormed on Thursday, so D put it up in the backyard on Friday after work!  I promised R we could sleep in it, so that’s what we did!

It turned out being me and both of my girls.  I don’t yet have a sleeping bag, so I slept on the air mattress with a ton of blankets, while the girls slept in bags in the other room of the tent.  R has her own from her recent bday, and A borrowed M’s, which was really D’s when he was younger.

About 1am, my hubby came in and cuddled up.  Apparently he missed me in the house, so came out to join the girls in the tent.

I had a surprisingly nice night’s sleep, though birds get up way too early and make too much noise for my tastes.  My plan to sleep until 730 was shot by some chirping around 645.  Oh well, an excuse to go make java.

R had swim lessons, then gymnastics, then we went to lunch with my friend AC and her two little ones, then off to take her for a haircut.  Then…as soon as we got home, it was to pick up the rest of the family and head to Bass Pro Shop (heard they have a good camping section – they don’t – and I REALLY didn’t like that store), and then finally to a fun night of Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens!

my little fishy

Today, though, I’m planning for my first ever Vegan MoFo!!  For those that don’t know, that stands for Vegan Month of Food.  For the entire month of October, vegan bloggers around the globe commit to blogging at least 5 days per week about vegan food.  It could be food you make, food you create, reviews of cookbooks, whatever.  This is the 5th year for it, and I’m so excited to be able to participate.

I woke up early this morning and made my MoFo menu for the week.  I’m about to head out for a run, and then grocery shop to get ready.  So…starting tomorrow, my weekday posts will all be MoFo posts for October.  My weekend posts will be more of my regular posts….food, fitness, and family.

So stay tuned for some MoFo action this month!!!
