I Have A New Toy….

I have to admit, that my new toy inspired me today.  D bought me the newer Forerunner, and it came yesterday!  He forced me to set it up myself (jerk), so I was sort of forced to learn some of the cooler features I never bothered learning on my old one.  Of course I still screwed up the set-up and he had to fix it this evening before I went out for my run…but still.  I felt like a rock star anyway!

Tonight’s run felt great – even if the HR strap was a wee tight.  It was raining lightly and about 38 degrees.  I was wearing 2 long sleeve shirts and my thin running jacket (more for the pockets than anything else).  I had my hat and gloves also.  I got a little warm and my hands were sweaty.  I took off my gloves about half way through, and that felt great – though I had to carry them the rest of the way.

Dinner was something from my whole foods cookbook.  Doesn’t sound or look appetizing, but it was good….millet, butternut squash, and tofu.  Looked a bit like porridge, but was still warm and yummy.

So this brings me to state the obvious.  I’ve been pretty MIA for the past month.  It’s not that I haven’t been working out, but I hadn’t been running as much.  I was really hurting, and I sort of lost my desire for it for a little bit.  I think that’s one of the reasons why tonights run felt so good.  Nothing hurt, and it felt good to push it.  Don’t get me wrong – I love yoga and going to the gym, but I really do enjoy running outside.  Who knew I would EVER say that???

And not to cut my first post in about 3 weeks short – but I’m exhausted.  I slept like poo last night and I have a meeting at 7am (which should be illegal).  The kids are infinitely more busy lately, and I have a lot to do before heading out of town next Wednesday….

But that’s all okay – I have a new toy that was just the kick and inspiration I needed to get my butt back outside!

Good night 🙂
