FOOD
I did a lot of rice and bean leftovers this past week, plus salads and green smoothies. It’s that time where I need to decide if I’m going to garden or just sign up for another CSA. As much as I want to garden, I don’t think I have the time to learn how to do it right. I had one once, and it was a disaster. So, I think I’m going to use my big pots to grow herbs, and keep hitting up our farmer’s markets (as sad and small as they are) for produce (or my friends’ gardens!).
Without going into tons of detail, here are some pics of some grub over the past few days.
FITNESS
Thursday’s run was pretty interesting to start out. I was really sore, and it took a good 5 minutes for my legs to stop protesting. And, we’re not going to talk about chest muscles hurting from pull-ups and what THAT causes to be sore when running.
Thursday night was another crossfit workout, and I think running earlier in the day had worked out some of my soreness, so it didn’t interfere with the workout. Which is good.
Friday and Sunday were both run days, and both felt really good. Saturday we had beautiful weather and I wish I had run in it, but I had a fun outdoors day otherwise, and am not sad I had to bundle up for my run yesterday.
This morning was a crossfit morning since I have late meetings tonight. It’s been fun getting back into the crossfit groove.
LIFE
Thursday and Friday were both very busy in the office, but it was a good kind of busy, and I feel like I got a lot done.
It was a nice weekend, if not just a little busy. I picked R up from school and took her for a haircut. She had a pixie cut back in September (first and probably last time I let her go back with the stylist without me!), and it didn’t really go over well. She got picked on a bit for it, and strangers would think she was a little boy. Well, we all had to go through a lousy haircut at least once in our childhood (don’t get me started on the Great Perm of 1980). Anyhow, it’s finally grown out enough to do something with it. She hates having curly hair, but at least now she has a haircut that can be straight or curly.
After the haircut, she and I went to dinner and hung out a bit before going home, where we snuggled up in my room reading.
I had a spa appt at 915 Sat morning, then it was swim team practice for nearly two hours. While I did that with R, D was at the DMV where M passed his drivers learner’s permit! After swim, I took R up to opening day at Busch Garden’s for some fun.
Sunday afternoon was spent watching my friend’s kids (including my godson). Afterwards, AC and I went out for a bit, then I hit up the grocery and then home to hang out with my family and make dinner. All in all, a very awesome weekend indeed!

Awww I hate that she had a bad haircut and got picked on
I saw the scramble when you posted it and I really wanted that!
It was heart breaking – especially since she didn’t tell us for awhile. Her name is also mostly associated with boy names in the US (though it’s more gender neutral elsewhere), so that probably didn’t help.
I always forget I can have something for breakfast other than a smoothie or oatmeal (and I get REALLY since of oatmeal quickly). It was fun to eat something else!
